The rebel Angel - L'Angelo ribelle
On the smaller portal on the right while looking at the facade of Florence Cathedral, we can find a tile which portrays the last of a series of very expressive little angels, called Angels of the Apocalypse, realised by Emilio Gallori and Cesare Zocchi around the year 1880.
The Angels of the Apocalypse seem to tell a story and during the years they have lent themselves to fantastic creations, inventions and short stories told by grandparents to their grandchilden; just because every angel has a different emotional expression until reaching the one who absolutely evokes the rebellion. His gesture is the refusal expression and conclusion of a speech; the rebel Angel!
In front of others, he himself refuses any fears expressing his disappointment with the Italian popular “Umbrella's gesture” (going to hell, “f***off”).

Sul portale della porta minore di destra guardando la facciata del Duomo di Firenze, ultimo di una serie di angioletti molto espressivi si trova una formella che ritrae l'ultimo di una serie di Angeli chiamati dell'Apocalisse, realizzati da Emilio Gallori e Cesare Zocchi intorno al 1880.
Gli Angeli dell’Apocalisse sembrano raccontare una storia, si sono prestati negli anni ad invenzioni fantasiose, ad invenzioni ed a novelle raccontate dai nonni ai propri nipoti, proprio perché ad ogni angelo possiamo assegnare un’espressione emotiva diversa, fino a raggiungere colui che in assoluto evoca la ribellione, il suo gesto è l’emblema del rifiuto e della conclusione di un discorso; l’Angelo ribelle!
Al cospetto degli altri lui stesso rifiuta ogni paura esprimendo il suo disappunto con il famoso gesto "dell'ombrello".
