Il giardino Torrigiani e la Chiesa Luterana

Vicino a Ponte Vecchio e a Piazza Demidoff, offuscato un po' dalla loro imponente "presenza" turistica, il giardino Torrigiani affianca i due palazzi che sono prospicenti a Piazza dei Mozzi e che appartennero alla famiglia Torrigiani appunto.
Il giardino non è di grandi dimensioni ed è sobrio e anche un po' austero. Accoglie al suo interno una Chiesa Luterana che fu costruita all'arrivo a Firenze di una comunità tedesca ai primi del novecento e progettata da Riccardo Mazzanti in stile neogotico.

L'interno, ad unica navata absidata con tetto a capriate, è improntato ad estrema semplicità lineare. Danneggiata durante la guerra e dall'alluvione del 1966, è stata restaurata dall'architetto Vinicio Brilli.

Torrigiani garden and the Lutheran church

Near Ponte Vecchio and Piazza Demidoff, a little blurred by their grand touristic "presence", there is the Torrigiani garden. It is next to the two palaces looking onto Piazza dei Mozzi and which belonged to the Torrigiani family.
The garden is not very big and it is sober and also a little austere. It holds a Lutheran church that was built on the arrival of a German community in Florence at the beginning of the twentieth century and designed by Riccardo Mazzanti in Gothic revival style.
The interior, in a unique apsidal nave with trussed roof, is marked by an extreme linear simplicity. Damaged during the war and from the flooding of 1966, it has been restored by the architect Vinicio Brilli.
